Cabo Verde, or Cape Verde Islands, is an archipelago of islands in the Atlantic Ocean located off Senegal. One of the nine inhabited islands is S.Vicente. It is there that Mindelo, the second largest city in the archipelago, is located, where we are about to land. As befits a true Mindelenka, we will start the morning at Laginha Beach. After all, what better way to greet the day if not to dive into the blue of the ocean and send a smile to the symbol of the island – the Monte Cara mountain, which can be seen as far as the eye can see from Laginhi? If the day is clear, the neighboring mountainous island of Santo Antão can also be seen.

Mindelo- what can you do for a day?
Mindelo is a typical port city that is a fuel base for ocean-going ships. Being in the Cape Verde Islands, it is impossible not to look there. Beautifully located, with an expansive beach, delicious food and smug people.
The city is primarily famous for its annual carnival. People take to the streets to dance and sing. It usually falls in mid-February, but preparations for it begin much earlier. Special stages and platform carts are being built. Dancers spend days practicing choreography and preparing costumes for the special occasion.
An island unlike any other
It’s time for something for the body, namely the traditional breakfast. And if breakfast – it must be Cabo Verde’s most typical dish, the catchup. Its primary ingredient is corn. In addition to it, beans, carrots, cassava or other vegetables, fish or pork can land in the pot. It is eaten fried with eggs or fish for breakfast. And sips coffee. It is a very nutritious dish, which will give you enough strength for a long time. Well, at least for a second breakfast or lunch.
