What is self-esteem?

Self-esteem is the attitude towards oneself, one’s experiences, talents, advantages as well as disadvantages. It is the way we perceive and treat ourselves. Self-esteem, on the other hand, is a generalized assessment of oneself. It is shaped from childhood, and its process continues continuously, throughout life. Attitude toward one’s self affects mental health. Thus, it can lead to mental peace, feelings of happiness and fulfillment, but also to depressive states, suicidal thoughts and panic attacks.

WHO study

WHO research shows that 61% of Polish girls believe they are too fat. This makes them rank first in Europe in terms of negative self-esteem. How does this affect their future lives? 84% of Polish women would perform plastic surgery on themselves if they could afford it. Such statistics were published after a survey by TNS OBOP. Simply put – 84% of women are not satisfied with their appearance and think they need to become more beautiful. This does not only affect their opinion of themselves, but also the perception of them in the business world.
