It is estimated that annually <\/span>About 1 million people in Poland<\/b> undergoes these procedures, the vast majority of whom are women. However, there is another branch that is not talked about out loud – the <\/span>plastic gynaecology<\/b>. One of the most popular treatments is <\/span>labioplasty<\/b>, which is a change in the shape and size of the labia minora. Fanfiction or necessity? Unofficially, we have learned that an e-book by Dr. David Serafin with the same title on labia majora and labioplasty is being written. That’s why the editors of GentleWoman decided to take a deeper look at this topic, for which we have prepared a special <\/span>a series on the health of intimate places<\/b>.<\/span><\/h2>\n

<\/b>How is the vagina constructed?<\/span><\/b><\/h2><\/div>\n\n

Seemingly a simple question, straight out of a biology textbook, but against all appearances very often asked on the Internet. Many women still don’t know, <\/span>how the vagina is built<\/b>, hence most of the problems they face. GentleWoman’s editors checked Google search queries, and it shows that search terms such as vulva, vagina graphic, butterfly vagina, labioplasty and correct labia are more than 20,000 queries per month. Perhaps education in this area should be much more extensive so that women can detect earlier the fact that there are any <\/span>abnormalities in the structure of their intimate places<\/b>, and thus go to a specialist for help. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"<\/p>\n

The vagina is the terminal segment of the entire female reproductive system. It consists of muscle and membrane tissue. It’s <\/span>very stretchable<\/b>so that it can perform all its functions, including the birth of offspring. Its inner part <\/span>is a natural extension of the uterus<\/b>, while externally it is surrounded by the <\/span>labia<\/b>. Due to its structure, it is prone to various infections and irritation. Therefore, the question is often asked <\/span>“are my labia okay?”<\/b> The skin of the labia is thin and often darker in color (purple or brown). Their color is due to the fact that they are heavily blooded. In addition, the labia minora have neither sweat glands nor hair. The front ends of the labia divide into two parts and end at the base of the clitoris, forming the clitoral frenulum.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b>Labioplasty needed right away<\/span><\/b><\/h2><\/div>\n\n

Until a few years ago, it was thought that plastic gynecology procedures were given to promiscuous women with lush erotic lives. Fortunately, it is becoming more and more widely known that the <\/span>Problems with the appearance of intimate places<\/b> can affect most women. <\/span>Overgrown labia and clitoral foreskin<\/b> are often the result of past births, menopause or genetic conditions. The problem also affects teenage girls who complain of pain during physical education classes at school, practicing gymnastics or riding. It is not only an unsightly appearance, but above all <\/span>pain and suffering every day<\/b>. Both physical and mental ones. Women who require labioplasty are at risk of abrasions and injuries even while doing everyday activities such as cycling, having sex, and even while wearing tight underwear! A bikini is not an option… “Overgrown lips cause painful abrasions of the intimate area, sometimes even ruptures. Inability to wear underwear, discomfort felt even during such ordinary activities as cycling. This is a problem that very often excludes women from normal functioning (…)” says expert Dr. Dawid Serafin. This makes <\/span>complexes appear and their self-esteem is lowered<\/b>. They give up close-ups with their partner, and this is often accompanied by depression. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"Labioplasty<\/p>\n

Many of the problems associated with this arise while still in adolescence. <\/b>“There is a lack of education, making the topic of overgrowth a bit taboo. Mothers don’t talk to their daughters about it. <\/span>Women are afraid to seek help. <\/b>And if they do try, for example, with a gynecologist, the latter often just spreads his hands and says, for example. That this is the way it has to be (…)” says one of the gynecological surgeons, Dr. Dawid Serafin. His opinion on the subject is shared by psychologist Susanna Butryn “Often <\/span>Peri-sexual issues are a taboo subject in Polish homes<\/b>. And about visiting the gynecologist, puberty or changes in the body simply need to talk. Use professional language so that the young woman can prepare for what is happening to her body and be aware of the changes (…) It is worth educating the child about why preventive screenings are so necessary for all of us. It’s up to mom to teach her daughter the discipline of regular checkups, from an early age. Let’s also remember that she tends to be a role model for her daughter (…)”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b>Life after surgery<\/span><\/b><\/h2><\/div>\n\n

Labioplasty can effectively change the life of any woman. Well made <\/span>treatment brings lasting relief and relieves pain<\/b>. Everything changes, not only the appearance of intimate places, but especially the mood. It is important to remember that complexes can really ruin life. In addition, women who opt for labioplasty are much less likely to catch various types of intimate infections, which also raises their standard of living. <\/span><\/p>\n

And sex? Suddenly <\/span>Even sex after three children can be enjoyable<\/b><\/a>, just like before the first pregnancy! Intimate sensations during close-ups are increased. They are felt not only by the woman, but also by her partner. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b>Truths and myths<\/span><\/b><\/h2><\/div>\n\n

It is true that <\/span>Labioplasty procedure is not a fad<\/b>. Although it is performed as part of aesthetic gynecology, aesthetics alone is not the point. <\/span>It is a medical procedure<\/b>, which is intended to improve the quality of life and restore a woman’s health (including mental health). <\/span><\/p>\n

Another truth is that <\/span>there is no clear price <\/b> For this type of treatment. Depending on the city in which it is performed, it can range from several to several thousand zlotys. In addition, the price also depends on the method chosen, the doctor’s experience and the extent of the problem with which the patient is visiting. <\/span><\/p>\n

The myth, however, is that this is a procedure that can be performed by anyone and anywhere. <\/span>This is a very complicated procedure, requiring a great deal of knowledge and experience on the part of the gynecologist. <\/b>The vaginal walls are highly innervated, and any improper cut can lead to loss of sensation in this area, which not only will not improve the patient’s health situation, but will make it even worse. <\/span><\/p>\n

And here comes another myth that labioplasty is always performed the same way and using the same method. <\/span>There are many methods available for performing this complex procedure, but not all of them are safe and predictable for the patient.<\/b> Among the methods used in the procedure are wedge (wedge resection), trim (removal of the edges of the labia minora), fenestration (excision of the skin where it is least innervated), Munhoz method, Maas-Hage method, Choi method, Cao method, hockey-stick method and Dewedge technique. Every woman is different. Each vagina looks different. Therefore, each procedure should be tailored to the individual. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b>(Un)safe treatment<\/span><\/b><\/h2><\/div>\n\n

When choosing a clinic and doctor, it is worth checking carefully how the procedure is performed. This is of great importance. Most doctors cut off the edge of the labia to make it smaller. Because of this, often <\/span>anesthesia arises <\/b>in that area, and the vagina itself has an ugly, unsightly appearance after healing. In addition to this, doctors perform a cutting procedure with a scalpel, and then the edge is sewn up using surgical threads. Maybe it <\/span>lead to wound dehiscence and hemorrhage<\/b>. However, the worst possible solution is to cut too much into the vaginal walls, which is theoretically irreparable later. <\/span><\/p>\n

Exactly, theoretically. Because in Poland, despite appearances <\/span>we have many good specialists<\/b> in the field of labia minora surgery. <\/span> Just how to find a good doctor? <\/b> Among them are Dr. n. med.
